History of the Jackson Hole Rodeo
The Jackson Hole Rodeo traces its pioneering roots with Sylvester Wilson in 1890; Wilson traveled with the first batch of settlers into Jackson Hole. He grew cattle in the Teton Pass region. Now, the Wilson family keeps western traditions alive by riding broncs, barrel racing, and rodeo coaching.

Dates & Hours of Operation
Jackson Hole Rodeo events take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. There are extra rodeo sessions on Fridays during July and August. The competition season is completed by the YETI Finals and Shriners Rodeo. Gates to the arena open at 6:30 p.m. Rodeos begin at 8:00 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Roughstock Programs
Roughstock events require that riders use one hand to stay on a jumping horse or bull for eight seconds. If the participant touches the animal or any part of the gear, the individual is immediately pulled from the contest. Roughstock events typically include saddle and bareback bronc riding. Derived from traditional cowboy horse breaking skills, bronc riding utilizes horses that are bred for their physical capabilities, as well as showcase riding techniques in a stylized manner.
Timed Sessions
Timed events involve participants achieving their goal in the quickest way possible, from roping calves to barrel racing. Cowboys and cowgirls compete to obtain the fastest time while riding through a path of obstacles during barrel racing, while roping events involve simultaneously riding a horse and catching a calf.

There are plenty of mouthwatering bites at the concession stands of Jackson Hole Rodeo! Scrumptious offerings include hamburgers, cheeseburgers, loaded nachos, soft pretzels, and candy. We recommend biting into the comforting Bovine and Swine’s bison and pork huckleberry sausages, relishing the perfect balance of earthy, sweet, and tart flavors. Top it off with a cold can of beer or a hard seltzer while watching the main event.
